Dallas Cowboys: Five Options to Replace Gerald McCoy
Another possibility would be that the Cowboys wait until the cuts happen. One name that has been circulating the possible cut lists is Kawann Short. With Carolina drafting Derrick Brown, Short could be a cap casualty. Short has been pretty solid until a torn rotator cuff derailed his 2019. He would be a fairly cheap addition at 31, and might be a name to remember. Maurice Hurst is another veteran player capable of dropping in and starting in a rotation on Day 1.

There will be other names to pop up, it is more than likely the Cowboys will look around the league and find someone to bring in. Harrison is the top of most people’s list, but I am sure they will allow internal candidates to fight for the job as well. Short is an interesting name that popped up, but they may not want to wait to see if he will be cut or not.
For now, we wait to see what the Cowboys will do, and while losing McCoy hurts, they have options. With expanded practice squads, multiple players could be grabbed and give the Cowboys some depth they can rely on as the season wears on.
