The Dallas Cowboys Trenches

Offensive line (9)

Starters: Tyron Smith, Connor Williams, Joe Looney, Zack Martin, La’el Collins

Interior Back-ups: Tyler Biadasz, Connor McGovern

Swing Tackles: Brandon Knight, Cameron Erving

The starters haven’t changed since the start of camp. With a full offseason and training camp, it was always going to be hard for McGovern or Biadasz to supplant the veterans.

The Cowboys have one of the better O-lines in the league and as long as their tackles can stay healthy, it should be the backbone of the team.

With Adam Redmond getting cut, the Dallas Cowboys will probably keep Cameron Erving (much to my dismay). Erving has that rare ability to be able to play all O-line positions poorly but not catastrophically.

Defensive Line (10)

Starters: DeMarcus Lawrence, Tyrone Crawford, Dontari Poe, Everson Griffen

DT rotation: Trysten Hill, Antwaun Woods, Neville Gallimore

Edge Rotation: Aldon Smith, Bradlee Anae, Dorance Armstrong Jr.

Tyrone Crawford is a leader on this team and as such, I’m listing him as a starter at 3-tech. The Dallas Cowboys will be running multiple fronts that will feature 2-down linemen, 3-down linemen, and 4-down linemen. Versatility and an active rotation make this all possible.

It’s safe to say Tank and Griffen will log the most snaps, but even they will be rotating in and out. Aldon Smith should be a fixture on passing downs and the hope is Hill will be the starting 3-tech by season’s end. Dorance Armstrong is on the bubble, but the team really seems to like him and he should beat out Joe Jackson since he’s the primary backup to Tank at LDE.

Bradlee Anae has been a standout in camp and is a lock to make the team and fellow rookie Neville Gallimore is hard working blank slate the team can mold. All in all this is a very deep unit that could get even deeper is Randy Gregory is reinstated at some point this season.
