The Dallas Cowboys need to consider a free agent or a trade to replace the injured tight end Blake Jarwin

The Dallas Cowboys didn’t just lose the game on Sunday, they lost players. Leighton Vander Esch suffered a broken collarbone and Blake Jarwin tore his ACL. LVE is expected back this season and the deep stable of talent behind him should hold down the fort.

Jarwin, on the other hand, is gone for the year and the stable behind him is as barren as the Sahara. Something needs to be done to overcome the loss of Jarwin and that something could involve signing a free agent or trading for an established player.

For as much as we like Dalton Schultz, he’s not the guy you want as your TE1. He’s a chronically underrated blocker but as we saw just this past Sunday, his pass-catching leaves something to be desired.

That pass-catching portion may not sound important given the wealth of talent Dallas has at receiver, but training camp showed us the monumental importance of TE in the Cowboys two minute offense.

Dak Prescott frequently leaned on Jarwin in camp when running the hurry-up and with no viable replacement to take over, the Dallas Cowboys’ two minute offense has fundamentally changed.

Unless the Dallas Cowboys opt to go more 10 and 21 personnel (something we should actually support), they’re going to need new blood at tight end. Luckily for us there’s a few players available either as free agents or as trade options. We look at them today and assess their fit in this Dallas offense
