CeeDee Lamb showed why the Dallas Cowboys need to get him more involved in the offense.

CeeDee Lamb made his NFL debut Sunday for the Dallas Cowboys against the Los Angeles Rams. In his NFL debut he brought in 5 catches on 6 targets and tallied 59 yards averaging 11.8 yards per reception. Lamb showed great hands and gave Dallas another weapon to keep defensive coordinators up at night.

CeeDee has the potential to have a big year due to teams focusing on Zeke and Cooper. With the Cowboys losing tight-end Blake Jarwin to a season ending injury Lamb could get receive a bigger work load. Kellen Moore and the Dallas Cowboys have a young talent that can be used multiple ways. The Cowboys can use Lamb 3 ways for him to make an impact on a football game.

The Cowboys could line CeeDee in the slot:

By lining CeeDee Lamb in the slot it would give Dallas the opportunity to capitalize on mismatches. Lamb is faster than majority of the Linebackers. Having Lamb matched up with the opposing defenses linebacker can give the Cowboys and Lamb great opportunity.

Lining him up in the slot will also open up the opportunity to do jet sweeps and opens up the creativity side of Kellen Moore. By implementing the jet sweep it gives the Cowboys another weapon to their running game that could open up more opportunities for Pollard and Elliott. It also gives Lamb the opportunity to get out in space and show off his speed.

CeeDee can also help Dak out when he is lined up in the slot. By lining him up in the slot it will give Dak a drag route and numerous short routes. This can be utilized to help Dak get in a rhythm at the beginning of the game. Kellen Moore and the Dallas Cowboys have an opportunity that a lot of teams wish they had a young wide receiver that does not have to be their number one option.

By having CeeDee in the slot it gives Dak the opportunity to utilize his new weapon like Brady used Wes Welker. Welker was Brady’s first security blanket. Romo had Witten as his security blanket and now Lamb has the opportunity to become Prescott’s security blanket for the Cowboys Offense.

Cowboys run more WR screens:

Wide Receiver screens can help both Dak and Lamb. The screens are not meant to be one play touchdowns, but with CeeDee Lambs speed and elusiveness it could turn into just that. This also gives Dak another way to get into rhythm and help him get the ball out quickly.

Dallas could use the WR screens on short yard situations. They could also implement the screens on the first or second play of a two minute offensive possession to throw the defense off. By implementing them in the two minute offense it gives the Cowboys the chance to catch the defense in a vulnerable position and gives the Cowboys the opportunity for a quick play to get out of bounds and stop the clock.

This also gives Lamb the opportunity to get comfortable. Being a Rookie from the Big 12  Lamb has ran many WR screens. CeeDee was successful at Oklahoma in their passing offense and by implementing more screens could help Lamb. It would give him that comfort he had in college and help him show off the skills he showed in college.

Cowboys Implement the Wildcat into their Offense:

The Dallas offense has a bunch of talent. If the Wildcat was implemented into their offense it would give them the opportunity to have the ball in Lambs hands. The Wildcat would give CeeDee the option to hand the ball to Zeke or keep it and use his talents. This also gives the offense the opportunity to run another jet sweep to Pollard.

This now gives Dallas the opportunity to get Pollard more involved and still feed Zeke to keep him in rhythm. By implementing the Wildcat can also help both Pollard and Lamb get into rhythm. CeeDee would benefit the most from running the Wildcat. He would make the decisions with the help of Zeke.

Dallas cannot waste this opportunity. Kellen Moore and Mike McCarthy could have the next superstar in their offense. The big question they will need to answer is, what are they going to do about it and how are they going to use him to the best of his ability.

This season should be an interesting one for the Dallas Cowboys. It also could end with CeeDee Lamb holding the Offensive Rookie of the Year if they play their cards right.
