3 Reasons to Remain Optimistic About the Dallas Cowboys
3. Mike McCarthy has been in this situation before
Many Cowboys fans are upset about how the Mike McCarthy era has begun so far. They were hoping for a fast start from a coach that has won a Super Bowl in his coaching career. The slow start has fans already questioning whether he should lead the franchise for long. This isn’t the first time McCarthy has gone through this in his first season.
Back in the 2006 season, his first season as head coach of the Green Bay Packers started with a 1-4 record before their bye week. They finished the season 8-8 and missed the playoffs, but it set the stage for a span of winning for Green Bay.

An 8-8 record could get the Cowboys a division title this season. Fans should no longer expect a perfect season from the team, but making the playoffs would be a good start. This Dallas team arguably had more weapons than the 2006 Packers team offensively.
Dallas fans have to be patient and trust that McCarthy is going to fix the issues of this team. The offense is exactly where they need to be, but the defense needs help. The team may not be first in the division, but they are still in a great position to win the division. Fans need to remember that McCarthy is a winner. Winning will happen as Super Bowl is still on Dallas’ mind in the future.
So there are reasons for optimism still. Did I miss any? Let us know in the comments!
