3 Reasons why the Dallas Mavericks should pursue Bradley Beal
By Walter Sharp
The Dallas Mavericks should look into making a move to acquire Washington Wizards SG Bradley Beal.
It has been rumored that the Minnesota Timberwolves are offering their number one pick in this years NBA Draft for Shooting Guard Bradley Beal. Even though Washington shot that down, the Dallas Mavericks would be wise to kick the tire on such a trade as well.
There has been a lot of trades that have benefited the Western Conference this week. Chris Paul has moved from Oklahoma City Thunder, and Dennis Schroeder has moved to the Los Angeles Lakers. And more are happening as we speak.
The Dallas Mavericks have two players that the Washington Wizards would benefit from if they go through with the trade. The Mavericks could offer their picks along with Tim Hardaway Jr. and Dwight Powell for the Wizards star Shooting Guard.
Bradley Beal would make a huge impact on the Dallas Mavericks and give them a big boost when it comes to competing in the competitive Western Conference. There are three reasons why the Dallas Mavericks should pursue this trade.
3. Bradley Beal would give the Dallas Mavericks their third star player
It has been noted that the Dallas Mavericks are in need of a third star to compete in the Western Conference. Bradley Beal would give them the third star and give them a huge boost in scoring. Beal averaged 30.5 points per game last season for the Washington Wizards.
Bradley Beal can also finish at the rim if he needs to. If the Dallas Mavericks could pull off the trade for Bradley Beal it would give the Dallas Mavericks the chance to be in the conversation of contending in the Western Conference. While watching the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Playoffs last season, it seemed like something was missing.
The Mavericks needed an extra scoring threat for teams to focus on. When planning for the Mavericks, NBA teams know they have to focus on Luka Doncic. They know if they can shut him down, the Mavericks struggle to score. Beal would give them another scoring threat to take some stress off the young guard Doncic.
2. Bradley Beal gives the Dallas Mavericks a lethal three point shooter
Bradley Beal shot 35% from behind the three point line last season for the Washington Wizards. He is not afraid of taking the big shot at the end of the game. The driving ability of Luka Doncic and the attention that Kristaps Porzingis attracts would open up opportunities for Beal.
If the Mavericks can pull off this trade they would get a huge boost from behind the three point line. The Dallas Mavericks shot 36.7% from three last season by adding the lethal shooting of Beal we could potentially see that number jump significantly. One thing is certain the Mavericks will have to work this deal quickly because a number one pick in the draft is a sweet deal for the Wizards.
1. Dallas Mavericks need a big trade to compete in the Western Conference
The Western Conference has seen a lot of moves this off-season. Teams have made upgrades and have bolstered their benches. Lets take a look at some of the moves that have already happened.
- The Oklahoma City Thunder traded Point Guard Chris Paul to the Phoenix Suns
- The Oklahoma City Thunder traded Dennis Schroeder to the Los Angeles Lakers

The Phoenix Suns needed a veteran leader for their young group of players. The Lakers bolstered their bench with Schroeder. Portland upgraded with acquiring Robert Covington. It’s now the Dallas Mavericks turn to make a move to improve their basketball team.
All the trades that have happened this week does not account for the Golden State Warriors getting back to full strength. The Warriors will have a healthy Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. The Splash Brothers will join their teammate Draymond Green and the three have shown that they can win a Championship.
The Western Conference is going to be highly competitive this season. The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers are going to be favorites again this season. The Warriors will look to put their name back into the mix. If the Dallas Mavericks can add Bradley Beal they will throw their names in the mix for contending for an NBA Championship.
