The Dallas Mavericks have a lot to be thankful for, both past as present. The Mavericks have been gifted great basketball players and coaches over the years. When the Dallas Mavericks sit down for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, they should be thankful for these three things especially:

3. Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic will be entering his third season with the Dallas Mavericks next month. It’s safe to say, the Mavericks are thankful for everything he has brought to the franchise. Doncic has developed into a superstar and leader on the court for the Dallas Mavericks.

The Mavericks young guard has proven to be a huge asset to their team’s success. In two seasons, Doncic has played in an All-Star game, been selected to the All-Rookie Team, won the Rookie of the Year, and was named to an All-NBA Team. He led the Dallas Mavericks to the postseason last year inside the NBA Bubble.

During the postseason he averaged 31 points per game, 9.8 rebounds per game, 8.7 assists per game, and 1.2 steals. He would also shoot 36% from behind the three point line and shot 50% from the field. The only downside to Luka’s postseason stats was his free-throw percentage, he would shoot 65.6% from the charity stripe. Doncic has given the Dallas Mavericks a lot to be thankful for during his short time with the team.

2. Rick Carlisle

The Dallas Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle has been coaching the Mavericks for 12 seasons. In those 12 seasons he has taken the Dallas Mavericks to the playoffs eight times. Carlisle took the 2010-2011 Dallas Mavericks team to the NBA Finals where they would knock off the Miami Heat.

Carlisle has coached 961 basketball games for the Mavericks and has a record of 513-448. He has coached in 64 postseason games and has a record of 30-34 for the Mavericks. One thing that the Mavericks can be thankful for is that Rick Carlisle is loyal. He has stood behind the Mavericks organization and is a leader on and off the court.

1. Dirk Nowitzki

The Dallas Mavericks can be most thankful for Dirk Nowitzki. Dirk would spend all 20 seasons of his NBA career with the Mavericks. Dirk Nowitzki did not join the trend of the super teams during his time in Dallas. When other stars were leaving their teams to join forces, Dirk stayed put.
