Aldon Smith was away from the game of football for nearly five years before suiting up for the Dallas Cowboys in 2021.

2021 was his first full season in the NFL since 2012. From 2013-2015 he would only play a total of 27 games for both the San Francisco 49ers and the Raiders. Smith was one of the best defensive ends in the NFL in his first two seasons with the 49ers.

He would record 33.5 sacks in his first two years in the NFL. When the Dallas Cowboys signed Aldon Smith last offseason,  they did not know what they were getting. With his performance during the 2020 NFL Season, Aldon Smith earned the new deal he will get with Dallas

  • Total Tackles: 48
  • Sacks: 5
  • Fumble Recoveries: 2
  • Pass Deflections: 2

After a five year absence from the NFL, Aldon Smith would prove that he has a lot left in his tank. At the age of 32 Dallas could get Aldon Smith at a good price. He would be another one of the players that they cannot over spend on.

Smith’s age makes him a short term option now as Dallas looks for his long term replacement during the 2021 NFL Draft. Dallas needs to resign Aldon Smith. They need more depth on their defense and he provides them with depth and talent to start.
