Dallas Cowboys Mock Draft
Round 6, Pick 188
WR Cade Johnson
South Dakota State
Without the NFL Combine doing “combine things” this year, the Senior Bowl is going to hold tremendous weight. That’s why we’ve been picking so many of its participants this draft. Cade Johnson is one of those Senior Bowl standouts.
Cade Johnson (South Dakota State) was one of the best wide receivers at the #SeniorBowl. Quickness, elusiveness and separation are all part of his skill-set.

Playing against lesser competition, it was important for Johnson to prove he belonged when he matched up against higher regarded players. He did that and more. Johnson frequently created separation with his quickness and crisp cuts. He had a feel for the field and a knack for getting open regardless of who was covering him.

- Cade Johnson, WR, South Dakota State
Johnson finds separation consistently, has a variety of release packages and his footwork is impressive. At South Dakota State he was a YAC machine. His stock is skyrocketing. #NFLDraft pic.twitter.com/XqmzBdF2og
At 5-foot-10, 186 lbs. Johnson projects best as slot receiver in the NFL. He’s not tiny and can move to the boundary if needed, but he’s ideal inside on a team like the Cowboys who will likely feature Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb outside in 2022.
The Dallas Cowboys don’t have a pressing need at WR this season, but with Gallup likely gone in 2022, it makes sense to start grooming his replacement now. Cedrick Wilson will also be an unrestricted free agent that season so it would be good to see someone like Johnson side by side with him in 2021 before any long-term decisions are made regarding the WR3.
