Dallas Cowboys: Free Agent DTs

Johnathan Hankins

For those intent on finding a run-stopping 1-tech who won’t break the bank, Jonathan Hankins might be your guy. At 6-foot-2, 325lbs, Hankins is one of the sturdier options available. But the run-stuffer from Oakland is coming off his third consecutive “down” year were he failed to crack PFF’s top-70 interior linemen so you need to adjust expectations accordingly.

Even still, Hankins is a run-stopping force who, with his 30 stops last season, would have led the Dallas Cowboys. That may sound like music to many Cowboys fans’ ears but he offered little to nothing in pass-rush, tallying only 1 sack, 1 TFL, and 7 pressures despite playing all 16 games, including 342 pass-rush snaps.

DaQuan Jones

At age 29, DaQuan Jones is young enough but still no spring chicken. He’s someone who’s coming off a pair of decent seasons and could come at a mid-level price. At 6-foot-4, 322 lbs. he’s big enough to man the 1-tech with Antwaun Woods, and in five of his past six seasons he’s played all 16 games, proving his durability.

Two sacks, four TFL, and 11 pressures are nothing to write home about, but if you’re looking for a reliable rotational DT to play on non-passing downs, he’s your man.
