Dallas Cowboys Mock Draft

4th Round, Pick 115

Jay Tufele, IDL, USC

You thought we were done with the big boys? Haha good one! We want all the big guys because we can’t have another year of teams running over 200 yards per game; so it makes perfect sense that two of the three big boys I’ve selected are primarily pass rushers.

Tufele opted out of the 2020 college football season. His draft stock has largely been up in the air, but it seems now that he’ll be available a lot later than previously expected. In the fourth round, the Cowboys would be getting a versatile defensive lineman with the ability to play one and three-technique tackle.

At 6-foot-3, 315 pounds Tufele could be considered undersized but he plays with good strength and power allowing him to take on double teams and win with a bull rush. He isn’t consistent with his pad level or his usage of hands and he doesn’t display much variety in his pass rush plans, but even so, he recorded 6.5 sacks and 10 tackles for loss in his two seasons starting for the Trojans.

Much like Wilson, the development of Tufele will be important to monitor because he displays good athletic ability while being a relatively raw prospect. The versatility he brings will likely leave teams wanting him later on Day 2, so I’ve made sure the Cowboys get him early in the fourth round.
