Dallas Cowboys 7-Round Mock Draft: Trading Gallup and Trading Back

Dallas Cowboys 7-Round Mock Draft
Round 2, Pick 44
Carlos Basham, DE
Wake Forest
Continuing on the defensive side of the ball, the Dallas Cowboys invest in another big defensive line presence in Carlos Basham. “Boogie” Basham was an intriguing prospect going into Senior Bowl week but after Senior Bowl week, he became a target.
Basham is a big (6-foot-3, 281 lbs) and long-armed defensive end with position flex to take snaps inside and out. He’s highly productive, logging 33.5 tackles for loss, 19.5 sacks, and 7 forced fumbles over the span of 31 games. That’s over 1 splash play per game and a good indication he’ll be productive at the next level.
Boogie Basham is power rusher who will be an excellent replacement to Tyrone Crawford as the rotational RDE in 2021. His ability to play the pass and run equally will be a welcomed sight in Dallas after seeing teams run up and down on them all year.
The Dallas Cowboys are low-key hurting at defensive end. They have two quality starters in Gregory and Lawrence but behind them it’s anyone’s guess. Bradlee Anae is fun to think about but we really haven’t seen him get on the field and Dorance Armstrong has been on the field but hasn’t really produced much. Adding a front line player to the mix is exactly what this teams needs and between Barmore and Basham, the unit gets a whole lot younger in a hurry.
Besides, Gregory is at his best when he’s splitting snaps so having a quality player like Basham to rotate with him is important.
