Dallas Cowboys 7-Round Mock Draft: Trading Gallup and Trading Back
By Reid Hanson
Dallas Cowboys 7-Round Mock Draft
Round 3, Pick 99
Benjamin St-Juste
Minnesota
Benjamin St-Juste is unabashedly one of my pet cats. After watching him play the boundary CB spot so well over Senior Bowl week, I took the time to watch his film. While it wasn’t flawless, it was tantalizing and he seems wonderfully suited to play Dan Quinn’s Cover 1/Cover 3 defense with the Dallas Cowboys.
Standing 6-foot-3, 200lbs St-Juste looks like a giant in the secondary. He’s not exactly Chris Westry but the guy is extremely long and skinny. He plays with a clear attitude and is not easily discouraged. He can cover big bodied receivers and smaller fast receivers (but definitely can’t play in the slot).
Press-bail outside CB is perfect for the Minnesota product. He doesn’t have great speed and he doesn’t have a ton of scheme versatility (which is why he’s here at Pick 99) but he’s a playmaker with a nose for the ball and the guts to play on an island.
The Dallas Cowboys haven’t drafted a CB in this draft yet, but remember, they did trade for Stephon Gilmore. With Diggs and Gilmore locked in as starters, St-Juste can develop behind them and fill in as needed or in dime looks. He should be a immediate special teamer and a prospect with starting potential in the Cowboys scheme.
