Dallas Cowboys Round Three -Jabril Cox – Linebacker – LSU

Late in the third round is a little bit of a mixed bag in terms of players available. Running backs, a few tight ends, linebackers, and some safeties are on the board. With the Cowboys going safety in round two, linebacker was near the top of the board and Cox was easily one of the top players on the board.

Cox offers really good coverage skills for a linebacker and can be matched up against tight ends without a fear of a huge mismatch. Cox works well in space and uses his physical tools well. Cox is a solid tackler with good range and reach. He has good speed and can chase plays down in the second level. He may not be best in the middle of a defense, but as a WILL could excel.

Cox is a little bit of an issue against the run as he has some trouble shedding blocks and being a read and react type linebacker. For as good as Cox is in space, in tighter spaces he doesn’t show up as well and will need work to get through traffic. A solid starting quality linebacker who will need some work to reach his full ceiling.

Other picks: Ar’darius Washington and Victor Dimukeje
