Dallas Cowboys Round Five

Anthony Schwartz – Wide Receiver – Auburn

The fifth round opens up the draft a little bit, however, the top three or four picks were usually wide receivers, so I went with best player available. Corner or safety could be an option here depending on how the first four rounds go, but here, wide receiver was the easy answer. Schwartz gives the Cowboys a huge weapon and might go earlier by the time the draft gets here.

Schwartz is fast, in fact, 4.27 40 time fast. Primarily a slot receiver, Schwartz has the ability to out-accelerate just about any defender and out-run everyone on his way down the field. Defenses will have to account for Schwartz at all times because if he gets behind a defense he has good hands and will score. He does well to get into zones and doesn’t just instantly turn upfield if it isn’t there.

Schwartz needs work on his route running and should not be used on the outside early in his career. He doesn’t have the physicality to line up against bigger corners and his get off the line needs work to overcome this issue. He has excellent straight-line speed and if he can get his leverage to match he will be tremendous as a weapon in the slot.

Other picks: Divine Deablo and Marlon Williams
