Dallas Cowboys Round 4, Pick 139

Bobby Brown III, DT

Texas A&M

This is the second mock draft I’ve selected defensive tackle Bobby Brown III. I believe his value in Round 4 is strong and he could fill a very important and possibly somewhat fluid need on the Dallas Cowboys.

The way the Cowboys are constructed it appears they have three carry over DTs. Trysten Hill and Neville Gallimore are their developing 3-techs and Antwaun Woods is their 1-tech. Based on some reports, there’s a good chance they’ll also bring Gerald McCoy back to rotate at 3tech as well.

That leaves a big need at 1-tech since the Dallas Cowboys like to rotate Woods. Bobby Brown would make a nice rotational piece.

At 6-foot-4, 315 lbs, Bobby Brown has the size and length to hold down the inside. He’s one of the strongest DT prospects in the class and would be an excellent anchor in 1 and 2 gap assignments. He’s not your typical rookie and won’t need time in the weight room to become useful. He should be useful on Day 1.

Brown isn’t a pressure player but he shows the ability to shoot gaps and get in the backfield. He seems to pace himself and varies his effort from play to play, so working in a rotation with Woods is pretty ideal.
