Dallas Cowboys Mock Draft

Dallas Cowboys trade Pick 115 and 191 for Atlanta’s 108

Round 4, Pick 108

Demetric Felton, WR/RB/Gadget

UCLA

Demetric Felton is a polarizing prospect. He’s quick, fast, dynamic, and has big play potential. He’s also a man without a position who likely needs plays created for him in order for him to be involved. It’s this “gadget” role that will cause a lot of teams to avoid him, even if he does have explosive play ability.

Many teams have Felton slated to play RB and if the Cowboys do as well, he probably won’t be considered since they’re set with Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard the next two years. But Felton is making a concentrated effort to prove himself at WR and looked good doing it at the Senior Bowl this winter:

The clip above shows Felton using basketball-like leverage to keep and gain position on his break. He has active hands good explosion so he should be able to get off the press at the line.

It’s also worth pointing out Felton used to play WR. He only transitioned to RB later in his college career so it makes sense that he’s showing refined skills playing WR this winter. The Dallas Cowboys could use him as WR5 to line up in the slot and either run routes or sweep (jet or orbital) to stretch defenses.

Felton would add horizontal speed to the offense (ala Tavon Austin) and stretch opposing defenses to create big plays for others. He’s a natural playmaker who even shows ability to make plays vertically downfield. It’s tough to say where he’ll go in the draft but he’s the type of playmaker Dallas could use.
