In Round 2 the Dallas Cowboys trade Pick 44 and 99 to Atlanta for pick 35

Round 2, Pick 35

Caleb Farley, CB

Virginia Tech

As we recently discussed this week, Caleb Farley is the big wild card of this draft. Once considered the top defensive player in the entire draft, Farley is falling to new depths because of an unplanned second back surgery he underwent just weeks ago.

two back surgeries, a year away from the game, limited film to study, and his inability to work out before the draft, and you have a very real buyer beware situation.

Combine his two back surgeries with his year away from the game, his limited film, and his inability to work out before the draft, and you have a very real buyer beware situation. While many of the teams drafting in the back of Round 1 are tantalized by Farley’s upside, the fact that he may be a complete bust could scare them away. No one wants to waste a first round pick, especially those teams that are only a player or two away from the ultimate goal.

That’s why there’s a decent chance Farley falls into Round 2. The Dallas Cowboys, always eager to take a second round gamble, wouldn’t hesitate to move up for the big swing. If they can jump ahead of some CB needy teams in front of them, they could get the steal of the draft.

Farley is 6-foot-2, 207lbs, long, lean, athletic, and blazing fast. He has an elite skill set that holds All Pro potential. His film is limited making him a little bit of a risk, and his injuries and time away from the game only add to that risk, but if the Dallas Cowboys feel good with his back, this is a homerun.
