The Dallas Cowboys, by the end of the week, will have new players on their roster due to the NFL Draft this week. Currently, the Cowboys have ten picks, although I am not sure they will be using all ten as trades seem to be a real possibility. However, we will try to take a stab at what the Cowboys will do with this mock. This is not exactly how I would want the draft to go, just how I could see the Cowboys picking.

Before we get into it, the way this works is I simulate multiple times through PFN, The Draft Network, and PFF. I then take the most often picked player as the person you see here. The boards are a mix of theirs, mine, and using Dane Brugler’s grades. I then aggregate my notes and bounce it off each of those listed as well and try to lay it all out here. With all that said, enjoy!

With the 2021 NFL Draft approaching this week, let’s take a final Dallas Cowboys mock draft stab in the dark.

Round One – Pick 10 – Jaycee Horn – Cornerback – South Carolina

With Surtain coming off the board one pick before more than a few times, it takes the debate of Surtain or Horn off the table and made the choice easier. I think Horn would be the pick if both are available due to Mike McCarthy’s friendship with his father, but that is not the case here more often than not. There is an option of trading down if one of the quarterbacks falls, but I tried to stay true to what I think the Cowboys would do if the draft falls like most think.

Horn is a dynamic cornerback who can play both man and zone well. He has good agility and can turn his hips really well, which helps him stick to receivers. He does well to keep his eyes looking for the ball and reads routes so well that with both things he is a really good cover corner. He has all the fight you could want and wants to be put on the best receivers.

The one knock most people have on Horn is he can get a little grabby at the top of routes, some of it looks like he knows he can get away with it most times, but he is so athletic there is little reason to think he can’t be coached out of it if it is a problem at the next level. He won’t wow you in run support, but that is not why you draft Horn at all.
