Round One – Pick 27 – Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah – Linebacker – Notre Dame

The Cowboys saw Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (JOK) fall to the mid-20s, took a gamble to get to 27, offered picks 44 and 75 to move back up. It might take a little more than that, but for these purposes, we will use it and move forward. The Cowboys have JOK on their list of players to watch if they fall, he fell more than a few times because he is a bit of a tweener, so I went up and grabbed him as I think the front office will.

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is one of those new-age linebackers that can also play safety. An extremely athletic and explosive athlete he fits with a lot of what the Cowboys are looking for at the position. He can rush the passer on the edge really well, but can also stay with tight ends and slot receivers in coverage. When he lines up the ball carrier he looks to dislodge the ball with violent hits and follows through really well.

Because he is a bit of a tweener there are some questions where he really fits and the scheme may be vital for him. Because of his aggressiveness and desire to hit as hard as he can, he will sometimes get out of position and not wrap up which can lead to some broken tackles. He is smart enough to be coached out of it and will be an instant contributor.
