Dallas Cowboys 53-man roster prediction: 2021 post-draft edition
By Reid Hanson
Dallas Cowboys 53-man roster prediction DL, LB
Cornerbacks (6)
Trevon Diggs, Kelvin Joseph, Anthony Brown, Jourdan Lewis, C.J. Goodwin, Maurice Canady
I think it’s safe to say the first two are locks to make the team. Diggs is Dallas’ budding young star and Joseph is the high-end rookie they just drafted in the second round. Anthony Brown and Jourdan lewis are inside CBs with the former having some outside ability.
C.J. Goodwin is a star special teams ace and won’t go quietly. He doesn’t offer much on defense but he’s an ace in special teams coverage and a favorite of the organization. Finally, Maurice Canady makes the return after opting out the 2020 season. He’s an experienced player on a team friendly deal.
As you can see, the third round pick Nashon Wright is missing from this projection. I’m just not sure how he beats anyone on the roster out. Unless he shines in camp and proves he can be trusted in Year 1, it’s going to take a =n injury to keep him around.
Safety (5)
Damontae Kazee, Donovan Wilson, Darian Thompson, Reggie Robinson, Israel Mukuamu

Kazee is the starting free safety as long as he stays on track in his recovery. He’s a proven entity on the backend and a proven playmaker in Quinn’s system. Donovan Wilson is a Cowboys fan favorite and should play the bulk of the snaps at SS and in split safety looks.
Darian Thompson is basically the new Jeff Heath. He just always sticks around and we don’t always know why. Reggie Robinson I’m pegging to play safety this year since Dallas skipped over the position in the draft. He’s an impressive prospect who just needs a chance to get on the field.
Last, is the rookie Israel Mukuamu. Drafted as a college cornerback, his future is probably more as a safety. I detailed his experience above and believe he’ll be used as a situational weapon with special teams ability.
