Braylon Jones – Guard – Houston

Braylon Jones is a really large guard who offers some flexibility to play multiple spots across the line. He has lined up at tackle, guard, and center but the Dallas Cowboys know his true home is at guard.

He has a strong first punch when he utilizes it and can maul people if he can get into them. He maintains a solid, good pad level in both the pass and run blocking which helps with his leverage on the interior of the line. He has long arms which gives him range when he is used to pull.

For as strong as Jones is he will try to stiff-arm and wait for defenders to get to him instead of exploding and punching. He moves fairly well but will lumber at times and find himself in space unsure of where to go. Standing in his gap his footwork can get a little sloppy which can throw him off-balance and defenders will take advantage. If his first punch doesn’t land squarely, he will get a little off-balance as well. HIs processing seems to run hot and cold.

Jones is a developmental guard who offers size and length if he can develop and work on his balance and footwork. For now, his best shot is depth at guard, but his versatility will be attractive.
