Anthony Hines – Linebacker – Texas A&M

Hines is a downhill-style linebacker who looks to destroy whoever is carrying the ball. He will never give up on a play and chases plays down from behind regularly. He explodes quickly which allows him to get around blockers. Hines will look for lanes to get through actively which helps him use his frame to get to the ball carrier with surprising agility.

Hines is not a cover guy right now and is really at his best when just shooting downhill. Due to his eagerness, he loses patience and will sometimes pick the wrong gaps to attack against the run. For all the powerful tackling he needs to wrap up better. He is a little undersized which will make him bounce around coming downhill until he adds size.

The Dallas Cowboys have effectively remade their linebacking corps this offseason. 2021 will serve as a transition period while the new start to replace the old.

Hines is a depth linebacker right now and needs to add size to his frame to play to his strengths at the next level. He will need to work on coverage, but has the athleticism to get there. His ability to play special teams will help him.
