Dallas Cowboys: 5 free agents still on the market Dallas should sign
By Reid Hanson
Dallas Cowboys Free Agents to Target
No. 4: Geno Atkins, DT
Geno’s best days are behind him (as is typical for free agents this time of year) but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t immediately bolster the Dallas Cowboys DT ranks with his presence. Atkins has long been the object of Dallas’ affection and here in his final days it may even come to fruition.
In much the same way Gerald McCoy came to the Cowboys to provide stability in 2020, Atkins could in 2021. Obviously we hope for a better injury situation, but the expected role would be the same. Last season was Geno’s first ever bad season. Injuries plagued him and kept him to just 127 snaps. But before that, Atkins had five straight seasons of health and production.
No. 5: Jurrell Casey, DT
Much like Atkins (and most of the other guys on this list), Casey had an injury-shortened 2020 season. But unlike many of the others, Casey was pretty darn good in the limited snaps he saw. Casey doesn’t have the name recognition many of the others do, but he’s a consistently solid player who may be safest of them all.
Casey is a well-rounded DT who has five straight seasons of 50+ pressures and has been solid in his run support. He’s not flashy, but like Atkins, he could be a good rotational piece to help stabilize and groom the unit.

Missing the cut: Kawann Short misses the cut for me because he appears to be someone that has fallen off a little too far. He has two consecutive injury plagued seasons and doesn’t look right even when he is healthy and playing.
K.J. Wright is another player I’m not sure I have room for. He’s still a great player but the Dallas Cowboys are too loaded at LB to squeeze him in.
This exercise was more about covering holes than finding the best possible players on the market, and I still see holes at DT and CB.
What say you Cowboys Nation? Are there free agents you’re interested in or should the Dallas Cowboys roll the dice and see how things shake out?
