Dallas Cowboys position group: CB

Perhaps the thinnest group on the team is at cornerback. While Trevon Diggs is the surefire number one corner, every other position seems to be up for grabs. The Cowboys decided to let Chidobe Awuzie walk just a year after watching Byron Jones leave. Due to the loss and uncertainty of the Cowboys’ position, Kelvin Joseph and Nahshon Wright in this year’s draft. Joseph missed the final week of OTAs with an illness and there are some questions about his experience at the college level having only played 15 games.

Wright was drafted in the third round and while he showed up in OTAs, we have to keep in mind it is only OTAs. Based on his draft position the Cowboys were higher on him than just about everyone else, and whether he can overtake the more physically gifted Joseph remains to be seen. That leaves Anthony Brown as the potential other outside corner to start the season, thrusting Jourdan Lewis into the slot. Lewis is better at zone coverage than he is at man, and there is talk of moving him to safety to hide his deficiencies in man.

Corner is a huge question and while it could be better than it looks on paper, for now it is one of the thinnest groups on the team.
