Dallas Cowboys position group: SAF

The next group we will look at is also in the secondary. The safety position is really thin for the Cowboys, as it has been for a very long time. The two starters appear to be Donovan Wilson and Damontae Kazee. Wilson has been up and down during his time, with some flashes but also some lapses. Should Lewis stay at corner it keeps the position even thinner with Kazee probably being the most consistent safety on the roster. Jayron Kearse and Darian Thompson have the most total seasons under their belts, but neither are a lot more than depth and should not be relied upon to be full-time starters.

Wilson doesn’t miss many tackles, which helps the team, but his coverage has been very hit or miss. It could be argued this is the thinnest position group on the team, but Kazee does add some viability to the group as a whole as long as he is healthy. While he is not as sure as a tackler as Wilson he has shown to be better in coverage. Keanu Neal and Jabril Cox could play some safety this year as well, but this is easily one of the thinnest groups.
