Training camp is finally here and after that COVID-induced hiatus last year, Dallas Cowboys fans are welcoming camp like never before. Mike McCarthy finally gets to properly prepare his team and Dan Quinn gets a chance to properly undo all that Mike Nolan did in 2020.

One look at the film last year and it’s clear the Dallas Cowboys were severely lacking practice and discipline. Training camp offers that.

On the cusp of training camp, we predict the Dallas Cowboys final 53-man roster for 2021

While many of the roster spots are forgone conclusions, there are a handful of spots fully up for grabs. Today we build the roster based on who we think is entering training camp with the inside track.

Dallas Cowboys Special Teams (3)

Lance Zuerlein, Jake McQuaide, Bryan Anger

Like most years, the Dallas Cowboys are fairly settled at special teams. The Cowboys often prefer to settle these spots before the season starts, and typically only deviate if an injury arises. So based on health and the fact no one is unreasonably paid, we can confidently say these three are the clear frontrunners to earn spots.

Zuerlein goes back with John Fassel in LA, and the Cowboys feel pretty safe with veteran place kicker holding down the spot. He had a rocky patch but his confidence is strong, as is his leg.

McQuiade is a Pro Bowl long snapper with skins on the wall. We’ll all be pleased to never hear his name. Bryan Anger will get the benefit of the doubt at punter but Hunter “the punter” will push him. I predict Hunter Niswander to eventually win the punter job but he’s going to have to overtake Anger, who appears to have the inside track.
