Dallas Cowboys Final 53-man roster prediction
Offensive line (8)
Tyron Smith, La’el Collins, Zack Martin, Connor Williams, Tyler Biadasz, Connor McGovern, Ty Neshke, Terence Steele
I have Dallas going shallow here because I think they’ll be perusing roster cuts elsewhere to pick up another interior lineman. Brandon Knight has been terrible this preseason and has to go while Terence Steele has improved just slightly enough to make Dallas stick with him.
Ty Nsehke hasn’t looked pretty but he’s the best swing tackle they have so he’s safe. Josh Ball hasn’t been able to do anything and will likely get stashed on IR any day now. Depth is a clear concern here so the Dallas Cowboys may address this with a veteran after their Week 1 matchup in Tampa.
Dallas Cowboys Defensive Line (11)*
DeMarcus Lawrence, Randy Gregory, Brent Urban, Osa Odighizuwa, Justin Hamilton, Neville Gallimore, Dorance Armstrong, Tarell Basham, Carlos Watkins, Ron’Dell Carter, Quinton Bohanna
It came down to making a choice between Bradlee Anae and Carlos Watkins and after going back and forth I settled on Carlos Watkins. Watkins can play both DT spots and before entering COVID protocols was listed as a starter on the depth chart. The coaches seem to like Watkins quite a bit and while I would have preferred to keep Anae, I’m not calling the shots.
Quinton Bohanna has been powerful for a rookie DT and could very well force his way on the roster. But 6th round run-stuffers rarely make final rosters their rookie seasons so I was initially playing the odds here and saying Dallas tries to stash him on the practice squad. But after Dallas moved RB Rico Dowdle to IR, I’m forcing Bohanna on the team.
With Neville Gallimore still out, the Dallas Cowboys are thin inside at 3-tech. But Osa Odighizuwa has been a beast and seems to have claimed the starting gig in his absence. At 1-tech the Cowboys have Brent Urban, Carlos Watkins, and Justin Hamilton rotating inside.
Outside is pretty clear-cut. Tank and Gregory have starting spots locked in. Basham and Armstrong will regularly rotate with them. Ron’Dell is my pet cat so I’m giving him a roster spot on the team. Sadly Anae misses the cut despite a fairly impressive camp. Golston and Hill get stashed for next year.
