The Dallas Cowboys regular season is upon us and that means it’s time for predictions. So in the name of “go big or go home” we start off with a bang and name the Cowboys top rookie draft pick as the favorite for Defensive Rookie of the Year and we make an overall defensive prognostication as well.

But first, we talk about the rookie: Micah Parsons, star linebacker out of Penn State University.

Micah Parsons, the Dallas Cowboys top draft pick, will win the 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year (DROY) award.

As many know who followed the 2021 NFL Draft closely, Micah Parsons was NOT the Dallas Cowboys primary target on draft day. Despite giving the young linebacker their top defensive grade in the class, the Cowboys were targeting cornerback with their tenth pick.

But when both Jaycee Horn and Patrick Surtain Jr went off the board, Dallas was left scrambling. After trading back to buy time and collect an extra third round pick, the Cowboys picked Parsons, sending shockwaves through Cowboys Nation.

Dan Quinn wants to make his defense fit Micah rather than ask Micah to fit his defense.

Not only was the selection of an(other) off-ball linebacker heavily criticized by the fan base, but it temporarily fractured said fan base.  Half of Cowboys Nation was livid while the other was enamored.

The only thing both sides seemed to agree on is that Micah Parsons was a special athlete whose talent could not be denied.

But as time went on and Micah started integrating into the defense, the split sides began to come together. And whether Cowboys Nation collectively likes the pick or not, everyone seems to agree Micah Parsons is in store for an enormous season and should lay claim to the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

Don’t believe me? Let me convince you then. Here are three reasons Micah Parsons will be the NFL’s DROY this year…
