Dallas Cowboys IR Update

Neville Gallimore, DT

Expected Role: Top-3 DT

Before the season began the Dallas Cowboys had Neville Gallimore’s name down as a starter written in ink. The second year defensive tackle flashed potential his rookie season and after a strong offseason of work and some early successes in training camp, the stage was set for a breakout 2021.

But Gallimore fell to an elbow injury that landed him on IR to start the season. His absence opened the door for the rookie Osa Odighizuwa and the rest is history. “Diggy” has been a star through the first three weeks of the season and looks like diamond in the rough, found in the middle rounds.

Depending on what the Dallas Cowboys want to do on the defensive front, will go a long way in determining Gallimore’s role when he returns. One things for sure, Diggy is here to stay and Gallimore will welcomed nonetheless.

When Gallimore first injured himself it looked like it could possibly be a season ender so when fans heard he was expected to come back early at some point in the season, it was good news – all things considered. But no one was banking on him returning right away in Week 4, so this isn’t seen as a setback in any way.

While we don’t have an ETA on his return, he seems on pace to return to practice the next couple weeks, and after some conditioning, make his return to the game field.
