Dallas Cowboys Player Report

Player No. 5: Randy Gregory

Stock Status: You should have already invested

This is the kind of stock investors purchased some time ago. I’ve been predicting a breakout for the better part of two years now so it’s nice to see it’s finally paying off. Randy Gregory’s ascension has nothing to do with his development and everything to do with opportunity.

The 28-year DE has missed more games than played, a pesky substance abuse policy has kept his breakout season at bay up until now.

With DeMarcus Lawrence out most of the regular season, it’s a good time for Gregory to break out. For years Lawrence has been Dallas lone pass-rushing force so thoughts of them both eventually playing together in 2021 is music to Cowboys Nation’s ears.

Gregory has the kind of bend around the corner rarely seen in the NFL. His explosion, strength and counter moves are nothing short of elite. The league is taking notice and my prediction is Gregory will soon be seen as one of the most feared pass-rushers in the league before this season is over.

The eventual return of Tank won’t hurt Gregory’s stock in the slightest. Gregory will benefit from the attention Tank pulls and with situational pass-rusher Micah Parsons chipping in as well, opposing O-lines are going to have a tough time double-teaming everyone.
