Dallas Cowboys Improvement No. 3

Defensive line

There’s a number of reasons why the Dallas Cowboys can expect improvement across the defensive line and nearly all of them are related to injured players returning to the lineup. None bigger than DeMarcus Lawrence.

DeMarcus “tank” Lawrence was lost just one week into the season. The undisputed leader of the defense has been the heart and soul of this Cowboys unit for years. And up until now, he’s also been the most talented player.

The 29-year-old defensive end is a complete player without weakness. He rushes the passer as well as he plays the run and handles the screen. He doesn’t fill the sack column on the stat sheet like he used to but he’s a pressure player and someone opposing offenses have always schemed against.

Fellow end Randy Gregory will be back soon as well. The 29-year-old edge player was in the midst of a breakout before he was sidelined for injury. Gregory and Tank are both regarded as elite edge players on this Dallas Cowboys squad and their impact upon return is expected to be enormous.

The most notable addition besides the two above is Neville Gallimore. As many will remember, Gallimore began the season as the starting DT but fell to injury early. He will return to join surprise rookie breakout, Osi Odighizuwa, who could use a little relief down the stretch.

The Cowboys are getting three starters back. That’s a big deal.
