Dallas Cowboys Draft: 5 possible draft options at Pick 24
By Reid Hanson
Dallas Cowboys Draft Option 5
Kenyon Green, IOL
Texas A&M
This is the third offensive lineman I’ve included on this list of five, and it’s for good reason. Dallas needs to rebuild their offensive line. Not a total rebuild, mind you. The Dallas Cowboys were self-sabotaged by suspect coaching decisions and instability in 2021.
That’s why, despite what PFF tells you, they were one of the poorer units in the NFL last year and not elite like their reputation says they are.
Dane has Kenyon Green going to Dallas in his mock as an immediate replacement to Connor Williams at LG. Crabbs has Green going 22 to the Raiders and PFF has him sliding out of the first round completely.
The 6-foot-4 325lb. prospect was a five-star recruit who was an immediate starter for Texas A&M. Last year alone he played inside and out on both sides of center. While he projects best as a LG, he shouldn’t have any problem playing RG or even tackle if needs be (long-term forecast as a OG though).
Greens physical nature will endear him to Cowboys Nation who grew weary of Connor Williams’ finesse. Green better resembles the days of Ronald Leary bulldozing opponents and that may be what this Dallas O-line needs.
Green isn’t just a road grader but also a fairly agile pass protector. His weight stays low and his balance is hard to disrupt. He rarely gets pushed back. He can pull on power run plays and seal in zone schemes. There’s a lot to like here making Kenyon Green a safe selection for the Dallas Cowboys.
Most importantly he fills a need and immediately upgrades a weakness.
Obviously things are going to change dramatically between now and draft day so rest assured we’ll be updating things here at SportDFW as we go, but for now these are some names you absolutely need to know.
