Dallas Cowboys 2022 7-Round Mock Draft: Post-Senior Bowl Edition

Dallas Cowboys 2022 7-round mock draft
Round 4, Pick 127
Khalil Shakir, WR
Boise State
It wouldn’t be a Dallas Cowboys draft if there wasn’t a Boise State player featured prominently on the board. Khalil Shakir is here, not because he’s from Boise State, but because he deserves to be. The 5-foot-11, 185 lbs. slot receiver, fits the mold inside.
A standout in practices, Shakir was almost impossible to cover. Creating separation at will, it was hard not to picture him with the Dallas Cowboys playing a Cole Beasley-like role in this offense. But he can also work downfield and could figure to get a more prominent role depending on the offense he eventually lands.
In Round 4, I see Shakir as a steal. I have him with a 3rd round grade but since I always seem to overvalue slot WRs, I’ll stick with TDN’s grade of 110 on their big board (which he falls to this spot more often than not 7/9 times).
Shakir has fully reached “pet cat” status on my personal list based on his Senior Bowl, his school, and his production. With 208 receptions, 2,800 yards and 20 TDs at Boise, Shakir is a proven prospect who is NFL ready. If Dallas is looking for a slot guy this offseason (and I think they are) Shakir can start from Day 1.
Did I mention he has 70 rushing attempts and an average of 6.6 yards after catch? He could be a returner, slot man, and jet sweep gadget all in the first year. Just get the ball into his hands. Again, I’m fine taking him a round earlier if that’s what it takes, it just hasn’t been necessary.
