Now that the season is officially over and we have a few short weeks until free agency starts, it is time to start looking at the Dallas Cowboys draft, and more options.

There are a few ground rules to cover explaining the draft and how the names come to be here:

  • Simulations are run across PFN, TDN, and PFF
  • Each site had multiple mocks run and the name that gets picked most often is the name you see here.
  • Not knowing the moves in free agency on who the keep, let walk, and sign does force some assumptions.
  • I went with best player available, or BPA, with an understanding of positional need and value.
  • I looked at trades throughout the draft, but many were not something I saw full value in and kept the draft pretty straight up.

Much of those could change and if quarterbacks do fall back in the draft, the possibility is there for a team that did not take one in the first round. We will assume they do not trade.

This Dallas Cowboys 7-round mock draft makes certain assumptions but still keeps with BPA.

The assumptions made are the Cowboys are going to keep at least one of their wide receivers in Amari and Gallup as well as one of either Randy or Tank. Looking at safety, I again assumed that Kearse would return, but also the history of the front office to not value safety as they do other positions. Each player picked is based on a mix of my analysis of the player, and a mix of what others see. Let’s start with round one.
