Round Two – Darian Kinnard – Guard – Kentucky

This round was between Kinnard, teammate Josh Pashcal, and Kingsley Enagbare. Kinnard was picked just a little more often, so was the pick here.

Kinnard helps make up for the missed players in this first round and while tackle is an option, I think guard is the more likely place they go. Kinnard has the flexibility to play right tackle, and therefore might help the entire flexibility of the offensive line should someone go down.

Kinnard is a huge bully in run blocking and rarely gets beat by bull rushers. Kinnard can take on double teams really well and his losses aren’t as much losses as they are a dead-even battle. He has the leg drive and power to knock rushers off course, but has surprisingly solid agility to get to the second level quickly.

Kinnard does need work with his hands, and if he can tighten up some of the more refined techniques he could be a long term starter for any team. For all of his size and agility, his hand placement is really his only question, and moving him inside, for now, is probably the smarter move. He is an upgrade of Williams and could cement himself with more refinement.
