Dallas Cowboys 7-Round Mock Draft: 2022 Nightmare Scenario

Dallas Cowboys 7-Round Mock Draft Nightmare Scenario
Round 6, Pick 200
OL Luke Goedeke
Central Michigan
All this way and the Dallas Cowboys still haven’t addressed what was their most glaring need at the end of the 2021 season: offensive line. The Dallas Cowboys offensive interior imploded last season and the entire offense suffered. The running game fell apart and Dak was running for his life.
Under the right circumstances I would be thrilled to draft every one of these players we just selected
So the Cowboys draft a very likeable Luke Geodeke from Central Michigan. The former right tackle projects best as a guard in the NFL and at 6-5 310lbs can fill in on the end in a jam. He’s tough player that could have starting potential.
The Dallas Cowboys 7-round nightmare mock draft
This isn’t a nightmare draft because the players stink. I would be thrilled to draft every one of these players we just selected. This exercise would be too easy to do if we just picked bad players.
It’s a nightmare because the Dallas Cowboys entered the draft compelled to draft certain positions. It’s a nightmare because of the hole Dallas dug themselves with their offseason subtractions. It’s a nightmare because Dallas prefers to target a certain type of player over a certain quality of player. It’s a nightmare because Dallas didn’t actually improve as a team.
Because of the good players Dallas sent packing this offseason (Amari, Lawrence, Gallup, Williams, etc…) the Cowboys had to fill holes with lesser players in the draft. No rookie is going to be as good as Amari or Tank. So at the end of this draft we walk away with seven rookies and maybe only one upgrade (our linebacker). It’s either a step back or just depth everywhere else. That’s not what you hope to accomplish in a draft.
We’ll see what the Dallas Cowboys do in coming weeks. Will they set themselves up for failure in the draft by downgrading at multiple positions? Or will they notice the opportunity in the NFC right now and try to actually improve as a team?
