Dallas Cowboys salvage plan

Step 4: Bobby Wagner, LB

This has been simmering on the backburner for weeks now. Bobby Wagner is just what the Dallas Cowboys defense needs. Normally I would not devote many resources to the linebacker position but Dallas is so bare and in such need of veteran leadership, this is a move that makes perfect sense.

Wagz is well past his prime but still regarded as one of the top LBs in the NFL today. Paired with Micah Parsons and Jabril Cox, Wagner adds a level of run support that would free Cox for the bulk of the coverage snaps and Parsons for the bulk of the pass-rushing snaps.

He’d be a leader on the team and instantly boost the overall IQ across the board. As long as the deal is voidable in the next two seasons (age is a concern), there’s no reason to not offer him full market value.

Step 5: Bradley Bozeman, C

The free agent market isn’t exactly littered with great center options right now. And looking at the NFL Draft, it’s a disturbingly thin position group. Unfortunately for Dallas, the Cowboys are in need of a center upgrade.

Arguably the weakest position on the entire Dallas offense, center is position of need that Dallas should really address right now. And the best option on the market is Bradley Bozeman.

While Bozemen isn’t elite like Travis Frederick used to be, he’s a significant upgrade over Tyler Biadasz. At a cost of under $10M per season, he’s also affordable.

The Dallas Cowboys absolutely must upgrade their O-line this offseason and the draft alone can’t do it. If they handle center here, and guard with one of their top-2 picks, they will have made significant enough improvements to compete in 2022.

These are all highly affordable and totally realistic moves the Dallas Cowboys could make right now. The players on the trade black are cheap and available. The players in free agency are affordable difference makers. And the Dallas Cowboys are flush with picks and cash.

Free agency is still winnable if Stephen Jones wants it.
