Dallas Cowboys (Round 3, Pick 66)
Khalil Shakir, WR
Boise State
PFF Ranking: 80, Brugler Ranking: N/A, TDN Ranking 72
Based on the visits the Dallas Cowboys were really hoping Chris Olave or Drake London would fall to them at 24 (both official 30 visits) but since they did not Dallas adapted and by trading back, opened up options for Plan B.
Ideally a big receiver capable of playing x and stretching the field would be available but the top options are long off the board (Pickens is gone) and the Cowboys select from one of their favorite schools to find a fast play-maker with Z and slot ability.
With #Patriots assistant coach Ross Douglas on hand for Boise State WR Khalil Shakir's Pro Day today, some thoughts:

- Fits the slot WR mold & is a +ball carrier
- Used on Schemed touches & also some wildcat QB
- Good feel for crossers/seams, finding soft spots in zone pic.twitter.com/g43UkEfjKi
Shakir is play-maker first and foremost. You can line him anywhere (including the backfield) and he’ll find a way to make a play either as a runner or as a receiver. He’s good at just about everything and at 6-foot 190 lbs is wildly durable given his workload
Boise State WR Khalil Shakir @king_khalil2 might be one of the most slept on WRs in this draft class.

In Dallas Shakir will likely start at slot, pushing CeeDee and Gallup outside, but in no way is he stuck in the middle. His speed and shiftiness make him a weapon in multiple areas including as ball carrier. For a third round pick, Shakir has a pretty low risk factor and given his big play ability, he offers tremendous value here later on Day 2.
