Round Five – Pierre Strong Jr. – Running Back – South Dakota St.
Strong was a BPA pick that adds speed to the Cowboys offense. With the top two spots locked in for the Cowboys with Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard, Strong could step in and make a push for the third running back with a potential expansion next season should Tony Pollard not be here. With 4.37 speed and an ability to catch passes out of the backfield, he has the ability to hit a home run with speed and agility.
Pierre Strong Jr. is a RB prospect in the 2022 draft class. He scored a 9.33 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 108 out of 1586 RB from 1987 to 2022. https://t.co/aiXYuL7jvt #RAS pic.twitter.com/pFjUiQnxK9

Strong is going to be a nightmare if a team can figure out how to use him properly. He isn’t going to be the powerful running back that holds up to a ton of carries, but with the right touches at the right time, he could be a huge weapon. He has good feet, great vision, and is a one-cut style runner. He averaged 7.2 YPC, granted it was at the FCS level, but it is still an impressive number.
Strong will not overpower many defenders at the next level and does not look like he will be a featured back. However, the right role and an ability to play special teams could make him a weapon for whoever grabs him. He did show some fumble issues, but his ability to be a weapon will get him looked at.
