Round Two – George Pickens – Wide Receiver – Georgia

The fears of not getting a wide receiver in the second round for the outside happened more than a few times, but luckily Pickens was available a little more often. Pickens fills a huge need for the outside that the Dallas Cowboys desperately need, speed. Pickens ran a 4.47 40 time at the Combine and his game tape looks that fast which helps.

Pickens does well to track the ball in the air and does little things to help create separation, tracks the ball well, and makes some really good receptions. He is a hands catcher and understands where he is on the field whether on the sideline or finding zones to sit down in. He uses his body well to shield the defensive back and has the ability to make big plays at any point.

The reason Pickens is considered a second-round pick is a past knee injury and some concerns with drops and some size questions about being a true “X” early on in his career. However, Michael Gallup is most likely the “X” this season, so keeping Pickens off-ball and away from press coverage would allow him to use his strengths best.
