Dallas Cowboys 3-round mock draft: A New Dooms Day Defense
By this time, Dallas Cowboy fans should be willing to accept how the front office operates in the first round. If Daxton Hill is their best player available then that is who they shall select. Now, they absolutely MUST go after a guard, right? Or add to those pass catching weapons we were talking about!
It shall be addressed, but first there’s a dream of selecting a type of player Dallas Cowboy fans have been longing for entirely too long. The only problem is, does it have to be done now? When the offense has two glaring needs?
Yes, now. This is a new team with a new identity we are building here.
What if…
With the 56th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys select:
Would it completely set you off if the Dallas Cowboys finally invested in a legitimate run stopper? Let me introduce you to Phidarian Mathis from Alabama.
The first thought may be, “Dallas has several Defensive Tackles!” Sure they do and none of them are consistent against the run.
Mathis can help create a longer down and distance that would essentially mean more rushing the passer from Micah Parsons on 3rd down. Truth be told, Mathis gets a decent push in the pass game himself. By no means is he dominant, but the Dallas Cowboys have long undervalued and ignored a commitment to stopping the run game.
Currently on the roster there are exactly two players that are plus run stoppers. DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons. One is ascending into a stratosphere of the likes we may have never before seen. The other can wreck a game or he could be out with injuries.
Get teams to a longer down and distance on 3rd down, give the ball back to your offense and prosper.
Let’s wrap this thing up.
