The secret is out! The Dallas Cowboys need a Left Guard. Ok, so maybe it’s not exactly a secret, but contrary to popular belief they could also use a Wide Receiver. Alright, alright. Perhaps everyone fully believes Dallas needs a pass catcher as well.

The most kind aspect of this draft for the Dallas Cowboys is the fact their needs could very well align with who the best players on the board will be. If they end up taking a guard or WR it’s safe to assume those players were at the top of the big board wish list. If the player taken at pick 24 isn’t one of those two positions there will be no assuming. We’ll known for an absolute fact they view that prospect as the Best Player Available.

Let’s state two facts:

  1. Protecting and helping franchise Quarterback Dak Prescott is vital.
  2. The NFL Draft is a fantastic way to gather cap friendly talent that can put a team over the top while also being extremely volatile, and unforgiving all at the same time.

This is why it’s wise to take the best player on your board rather than reaching for a player at a position of need, no matter how bad you need it. Reach for the lesser player and you get, well, just that. A lesser player.

The Dallas Cowboys could be fortunate enough to fill the gaps they left during free agency. At least that’s the plan. Should they miss on an early pick it could mean trouble. So they’d better hit on a number of selections.

Let’s draft!
