With the 167th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys select:

. Running Back. Dallas Cowboys. Abram Smith. 167. player. 123

The Dallas Cowboys have a handful of fifth round picks and there’s one that just feel right. Baylor Running Back Abram Smith would be a fantastic day three addition and there’s plenty of reasons why.

With Tony Pollard in a contract year and the Dallas Cowboys keeping an eye on a potential out in Ezekiel Elliott’s contract, this would be a great selection for the team to cover themselves and get a player who can step on the field immediately.

Smith’s style of play and background not only would allow him to see some spare carries but he could have an immediate presence on special teams.

In his final season at Baylor and his only as a running back, Smith lead the Bears with 1,600 yards and 12 touchdowns. Prior to being a ball carrier Smith was a linebacker. So pedigree for being a great addition to Bones Fassel’s special teams units is there.

The fit to the Cowboys is a good one as well. Smith is a one-cut runner, whether it’s picking through his zone blocking in front of him, or making a man miss in the open field. He wastes little motion, gets north and south and finishes with power.

This player could be compared to DeMarco Murray. Similar size and running style. Murray had more speed coming out of college, but speed certainly wasn’t Murray’s game at the pro level. So when you turn on the tape, it’s easy to see Abram Smith with a star on his helmet.
