With the 178th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys select:

Velus Jones Jr.. 178. player. 123. . Wide Receiver. Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys lack a truth slot receiver. Looking at the roster they lack a shifty underneath guy who can make defenders miss in space. Not to mention they’ll need a punt returner that takes CeeDee Lamb out of the role. Jameson Williams can, but again, coming off injury would it be side outside of needing a game breaker?

This is where Velus Jones Jr. could be valuable to the Dallas Cowboys immediately. He’s an outstanding return man. As a matter of fact he shared SEC Special Teams Player of the Year honors with Williams in 2021.

It’s also nice to have options and when Jameson Williams gets healthy he can be mixed in if you feel he’s more of your late game threat. But Jones protects your new asset by doing the bulk of the return work. His strength makes him an option as a gunner as well.

As a receiving option, Jones has work to do. The speed and quickness in and out of breaks is nice to have, but the routes aren’t always as desired. Though, there were improvements made.

Add in that he’s an older player (25 years old) and Velus Jones Jr. could be a nice get to contribute for a cheap four year contract.
