With the 56th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys select
This pick just smells like Dan Quinn. It seems like Quinn has taken a liking to the 6-foot-3, 261 lb. EDGE from Ole Miss, and he’s not afraid who knows it. Slotted by many to go between the second and third round, I have a sneaking suspicion Williams is on the table here at Pick 56.
The Dallas Cowboys have a long-term need at DE since Randy Gregory has departed to Denver. Dorance Armstrong and Dante Fowler ain’t gonna cut it for long and since this is an ultra-deep DE class, no better time than now to address the spot.
Williams was highly productive last season offering up 1.6 splash plays per game which includes nearly a sack per game. He’s well-built and explosive off the snap. He’s undisciplined and needs development, but his motor is strong and he has quick-twitch you can’t teach.
Character concerns exist but it seems his legal issues are in the past. He’s not a bendy rusher like Gregory he’s a beast off the line.

Most scouts aren’t this high on him but as we stated before, he seems to have the Cowboys eye and that’s why he’s likely the pick here assuming the Cowboys already filled their OG spot.
Trade up if…We said the Dallas Cowboys would consider a trade in the first round if a prospect fell within reach and that holds especially true in the second round. It wouldn’t be shocking at all to see them package picks to move into the 40-45 range if a WR or OL slides out of the 30s.
