Dallas Cowboys Round Three – Alec Pierce – Wide Receiver – Cincinnati

I almost moved up to ensure I got Pierce but gambled and it paid off. Pierce gives the Cowboys outside speed and length which the team desperately needs. While Pierce may not be the first option for a lot of people, should the draft fall poorly or the Cowboys not trade up, Pierce is a solid consolation prize in the third. He would allow the Cowboys to move Lamb around which will help with mismatch issues for defenses.

Pierce has a 4.41 speed and elite jumping ability which increases his range and red zone ability. Pierce has good hands and tracks the ball exceptionally well, he makes hard catches look easier than they actually are. He has solid footwork to get off the press, but keeping him off the ball will help early in his career, which is perfect as Gallup can be the “X” receiver either way.

Pierce needs to work on his entire route tree as the Bearcats didn’t really ask him to do too much here. He will need to work on the entire route as sometimes he can get a little loose at the top of his route. With all of his speed, he doesn’t really flash a ton of YAC, but with better routes, he has the speed to take the top of defenses and help his YAC.
