Dallas Cowboys Round Five – Smoke Monday – Safety – Auburn

I believe Monday fills two potential needs long-term for the Dallas Cowboys, one being safety depth, but he has some corner and linebacker ability. I think his best fit is safety if he can add just a little more size, but his versatility and athletic ability could make him an interesting project and depth player early. He does play special teams, which increases his value.

Monday is a long, athletic, player who has a most for the ball with an ability to return an interception at any point on the field. He is not afraid to tackle and will come down and crash an edge hoping to jar the ball carrier. More reactive in coverage than full of technique, but flashes exciting abilities which gives hope for his development.

Monday will need to work on being more refined in his coverage, at times he will guess instead of trust what he sees which has hurt him. Because he tries to light up a ball carrier he doesn’t wrap up as much as you would like which can lead to broken tackles. Due to his physical nature though, he can play the linebacker/safety hybrid role in some situations until he adds a little more size.
