Dallas Cowboys Round Five – Cole Turner – Tight End – Nevada

Another slight steal at this point is Cole Turner at the end of the fifth. With a deep tight end class, it is possible he makes it this far into the draft, but probably shouldn’t. Turner had nineteen touchdowns in the last two seasons and had only three drops his senior year. Turner is a monster in the red zone which is something the Cowboys need.

Turner isn’t going to outrun a ton of people, but he will probably outjump them and outsmart them. He runs good routes and can get up the seam faster than people would assume. With such a good catch radius he is always a threat to come down with the ball. As a blocker, he is willing but needs work to be called a good blocker, he is average at best for now.

Turner is still working on becoming a better blocker, which will help his usage overall. Since he isn’t the fastest tight end in the class, he will need to work on his gears throughout routes to help keep separation. His ability to play special teams and be a red zone threat will help him see the field early.
