Prediction No. 2: The Dallas Cowboys might not draft a guard

The biggest need on the Dallas Cowboys is left guard. But the Dallas Cowboys may not pick a guard at all. Crazy right? While the chances of picking either Kenyon Green or Zion Johnson are significant (see also my final mock draft prediction at the end), it’s far from a sure thing.

The Dallas Cowboys could opt to draft an offensive tackle instead of a guard. They could use that tackle to play the open guard position here in 2022 and groom him to take over at a tackle position down the road. This would make better use of resources since OTs are considerably more valuable than OGs and it would give the Cowboys a little more versatility should something happen to the starting tackles this year.

Prediction No. 3: Tyler Biadasz is not safe

Just because the Dallas Cowboys don’t seem to be entertaining Tyler Linderbaum as a pick, does not mean they fully endorse Tyler Biadasz as the 2022 starting center. While Biadasz improved as the season went on (seriously, he was the only O-linemen last year who improved the second half), he is far from being above reproach and he only scratched the surface of “average.”

The Dallas Cowboys met with multiple center prospects in the 3-4 range of the draft and will likely be bringing in someone to compete with the third year center. With Biadasz playing at replacement level, it seems unlikely he’ll be given the benefit of the doubt and will probably face an open competition this year.

The Dallas Cowboys are in a unique position where they can take a little time developing a prospect as well. Biadasz is under contract for two more seasons so whoever they get won’t be rushed into service like Biadasz once was. But expect them to bring in competition.
